Though I’ve named this piece after the most recent Chelsea Wolfe album, the songs lyrics to ”Everything Turns Blue” have been a harp thrumming through me and my creative process of late.

I've been thinking about you, heavy on my mind
I've been losing days here, do you know what that's like?
I've been thinking about you, fucked me up in my dreams
What do I have to do to heal you out of me?

During a tumultuous period of my life I have lost and survived people who I thought integral to my life. It’s been a deep pain and sorrow holding those losses and yearning to learn from them. Yearning to hold & heal from them. Learning that I can, in fact heal. Learning that these relationships do not define me. Learning that I was playing a part and not being authentic to myself and who I am truly.

I’m not sure how Chelsea speaks so intimately to my life with each release, but she does and I thank her for it a million times over.

This  healing was necessary, but in the midst of it all I never imagined I could actually heal from any of it. It seemed insurmountable.

I read a quote that stated something along the lines of “the opposite of depression is not happiness, but expression” and it fit like a key in an old lock that opened up such an important window full of fresh air to my mind & heart.
Creating, expressing, they truly can assist in the healing process, but you also have to be open to the healing and to take accountability for your part in it all.

This hand and dagger sculpture represents me attempting to reach out, to create connection but being stabbed in return. It’s not literal of any one interaction, but more representative of me carrying this wound, perhaps hoping another might pull the blade away but in the end realizing it is my wound to mend. 

This sculpture features a real 14” metal dagger set into a resin hand emerging from a gilded cathedral frame. It is dripping & glittering with red rhinestones and glass beading.
